The essence of Kari Voutilainen is perfectly embraced in the Voutilainen Vingt-8 wristwatch. Inside the stylish and enduring case is an elegant mechanism, powered by an in-house movement which was entirely conceptualized, built and assembled in the maison's own workshop. There is a great sense of sporty aesthetic shining underneath the layers of this tastefully masculine timepiece. A vibrant punch of orange surrounded by trimmings and texture conveys youthfulness, energy and joy.

Voutilainen Vingt-8 is a three-hand watch that is crafted with a semblance to the usual vintage pocket watch dial. An experiment of colors; the piece is highlighted by a movement whose large balance wheel has been produced in-house. This makes perfect sense, as this unique gear is made to create perfect regulation of the watch. In order to produce such accuracy, the brand made use of Grossmann curve, something which is not widely implemented in watchmaking. The movement is made special by the escapement. In fact, two escapement features are lodged inside the watch. The escapement wheels offer a direct impulse to the balance via the jewel. Efficient in energy usage, this offers benefits in terms of stability and longevity, especially when the watch is used daily.

Inside, the balance wheel is carved in an elegant manner, offering a perfect spectacle of the escapement and the balance. Through the gaps, one can see the synchronized movements of the wheels, guaranteeing that the watch is finished to the most paramount effect. Flat and polished pinions and gears look uniform, while the rest of the finishing for the main plate and bridges are done by hand to achieve a higher quality of surface finish. The screws, steel parts and other elements are also manually polished.

One of the most notable features of this model is the two-tone hands, a rare look which showcases the look of blued steels and orange for the shafts and arrows. The hand construction is complicated, where the two different materials are carefully melded. The machine guilloche engraving produces a musky, austere effect while the Roman numeral, in generous fonts, are placed in position and offers fine legibility.

The watch only speaks of how modern watchmaking is combined with classic elements that speaks to the heart. Enclosed in a 40mm wide 18k white gold case, the watch offers comfort in the wrist. Voutilainen Caliber 28-109 powers the watch with a hand-wound movement and it is displayed through the sapphire glass case back. It offers 65 hours of power reserve and beats at 21,600 vph.
