Hautlence Men's Watches

Since it was founded in 2004, HAUTLENCE has been seen as one of the originators of a movement championing a rebellion in watchmaking. Over the years, HAUTLENCE has cultivated the art of breaking rules, mixing past with future, respecting watchmaking traditions whilst circumventing them through innovative – and sometimes completely offbeat – creations. The HL2.3 PUNK is in line with this spirit, taking it to the next level. A veritable sculpture in movement, this creation boasts a unique and unexpected aesthetic, adorned with steel studs. Flying in the face of all conventions, HAUTLENCE has created a timepiece which breaks with received codes entirely, firmly rooting itself in Punk ideology.

Cementing its status as the “enfant terrible” of watchmaking, HAUTLENCE takes rebellion to the next level with the HL2.3 PUNK model. Reinterpreting the signature case associated with the calibre HL2.0, with its three sapphire crystals cut from solid blocks, HAUTLENCE has taken the unconventional step of adding 84 studs of 14 different sizes to symbolically represent the Punk ethos. Inspired by the legendary Perfecto jacket, HAUTLENCE is embodying personal liberty, daring to mix genres to create an haute horlogerie watch which boldly proclaims its individuality. Above the speed regulator which ensures that the hours display changes smoothly via the half-trailing hours chain, HAUTLENCE has replaced the traditional MOEBIUS symbol with the “Circle-A” of the Libertarian movement, which advocates for absolute freedom, denying any principle of authority and rejecting all constraints.

The HL2.3 PUNK is driven by the calibre HL2.0, which combines the jumping hour, which is half-trailing, the retrograde minute – the brand’s signature – and the power reserve indication. Constructed around the retrograde minutes, the jumping hour is formed of a chain comprising twelve links. The retrograde minutes are displayed on a sector set over 180°. A clever mechanism ensures this assembly moves with control, thereby preventing any accidental impacts linked to its operation. Each hour, as the chain moves, the bridge-type movement rotates through 60°, enabling it to compensate for the effects of gravity on the regulating organ. To ensure it has sufficient energy, the main barrel, which is charged by the automatic system, winds a second barrel which drives the display complication.

With a sleek ergonomic design, featuring contemporary mechanical architecture backed with an ethos of rebellion, the HL2.3 PUNK model will certainly not go unnoticed, linking back to the brand’s founding principle: to create different ways of displaying the time. The HL2.3 PUNK is a unique piece which will be available in other materials.

HAUTLENCE is continuing to develop its selective circle of retailers with the addition of an exceptional new partner: Les Ambassadeurs. For more than 50 years, Les Ambassadeurs has been cultivating a reputation for excellence amongst its clientèle, thanks to its cutting-edge expertise in fine watchmaking.

From November, it will be possible to admire the Concepts d’Exception and Atelier collections from HAUTLENCE in the prestigious Espace connaisseur of the Geneva, Zurich and Luzern boutiques, and in Saint-Moritz from December to March, as the ski season starts. “Dedicated to lovers of fine watchmaking and passionate collectors of rare watches, the Espace connaisseur is the perfect setting for discovering and showcasing our most exceptional timepieces”, stated a delighted Sandro Reginelli, CEO of HAUTLENCE. Joachim Ziegler, CEO of Les Ambassadeurs added „We are thrilled to add Hautlence to our world-renowned collection of exceptional and rare timepieces in our Espace connaisseur”.

As a follow up to the successful debut of their concept watch Vortex, Neuchâtel-based Swiss watchmaker Hautlencereveals Vortex 02, a deliciously deviant timepiece in black and red gold tones, magnificently showcasing unique timekeeping methods in a unique, three dimensional artistry.

Housed inside a uniquely rectangular case, Vortex 02 is equipped with an exclusive calibre, HL 2.0. It comes with three Hautlence patents, the first of which is the 12-link chain that showcases the half-trailing hours, running smoothly in three to four seconds as per 60 minutes to highlight the current hour. This mechanism is different from the instant, automatic approach which turns the hours rather too swiftly. The dragging system allows one to appreciate the time transformation, allowing one to ponder what to do in between, and making the most out of it.

Its second feature is the regulating organ that is perched within the bridge-type movement, constantly changing position in-line with the display. Two barrels, the third of its patents, are housed inside the watch, with the main barrel offering enough juice to wind up the second barrel, which respectively powers the whole system. Very unique concept, as this cements precision in the entire complication; making sure that the correct time is set.

Everything is housed inside a beautiful red-gold case and sapphire crystal glass. At a glance, wears can only see the retrograde minutes, power reserve and the layered openwork of the movement. There’s a logo at the middle of the trailing digits, each tinted with white luminous ink, shining from the black opaque canvass. The handsome hues are perfect for the nostalgic, steam-punk inspired man, who will accept nothing less than extraordinary.

Hautlence only debuted in 2004, but the brand’s prowess in contemporary Swiss watchmaking speedily gathered for them much acclaim. Since the birth of their iconic HL signature series, Hautlence presses on recreating stunning mechanical architecture outlaid within a timepiece of breath-taking aesthetics. Their newest gift for the stylish and the lux is HL 2.6, following the footsteps of its previous accolades in showcasing dynamic methods of displaying time.

What’s new in this feature—here is a three-dimensional dial that offers depth to the watch, forging in the imagery of lights and shadows for an extraordinary construction. It was built on two layers, with the lower dial, made of strong sapphire crystal, is accentuated with semi-translucent black areas. The upper area houses the hour and minute markers in pure white. Each digit is plated with 4N pink gold, matching perfectly with the supremely elegant red gold case.

Inside, the mechanism is powered by calibre HL2.0, the same engine lodged in 2.2. Retrograde minutes are shown on the 180-degree section of the dial, while the hours are featured on a twelve-linked chain, moving forward every 60 minutes. Before another hour slips through, the retrograde minute hand reverts to 0, activating another turn of the chain. It is a mesmerizing spectacle unlike no other complication; movements are structured three-dimensionally, with the regulating gear changing position for better time recording.

One important thing to note is that HL 2.6 contains two barrels. The main one is wound by the automatic-winding mechanism that juices up the second barrel, the latter of which is dedicated to driving the entire complication. Both are geared to ensure the hour’s precision. Another feature—the regulating gear which is nestled inside the mobile bridge, crafted to enhance accurate recording.

Known for “turning things upside down”, Hautlence definitely makes a mark with HL 2.6. The beautiful open-work watch sparkles with finely polished bridges, plates and organs, with a mark of “HORLOGERIE SUISSE” at the back of its case.

Contemporary watchmaker HAUTLENCE enlarges its newly unveiled Tourbillon collection with the addition of two new editions, the Tourbillon 02 and Tourbillon 03. Just like the Tourbillon 01 presented in October 2015, these two elegant timepieces are powered by H. Moser & Cie.’s exclusive Calibre Tourbillon HMC 802, equipped with a dual-time function, one- minute tourbillon, three-day power reserve and automatic winding system.

Inspired by the design of the very first HL05 timepieces, the Tourbillon 02 and 03 follow the aesthetics of the Tourbillon 01, but come in new colour schemes. Housed in a round 44mm grade 5 titanium and steel case, the eye-catching Tourbillon 02 flaunts blue PVD-coated hour and minute hands, numerals and hour markers. The luxurious Tourbillon 03’s case is crafted out of grade 5 titanium and 18-carat pink gold, elegantly matching the red gold-plated numerals, HAUTLENCE logo, hands and hour markers on the dial. Both of these new editions showcase HAUTLENCE’s signature three-dimensional dial. Built on several layers, the dial highlights a rhodium dial base embellished with Côtes de Genève. The numerals and hour markers seem to be floating above the dial thanks to the inclusion of an intermediate sapphire crystal dial, creating a mesmerising structural effect.

In addition to displaying a tourbillon at six o’clock, the timepieces also indicate a second time zone through a smaller hour hand that is hidden behind the main hour hand. The second time zone hand remains out of sight as long as the dual-time function is not in use, staying below the hour hand as it rotates around the dial.

Powering the timepieces is the Calibre HMC 802, an automatic movement manufactured in-house by H. Moser & Cie.—the Schaffhausen-based watchmaker owned by the Meylan family company, MELB Holding. The movement comes equipped with a regulating organ produced by Precision Engineering AG (PEAG), a company also part of MELB Holding that specialises in developing and building high-quality escapement components. Each of the movement’s parts have been finished and decorated by hand, contributing to making the timepieces beautiful from the inside out.

HAUTLENCE strengthens its Tourbillon collection with the addition of these two new striking editions, attesting to the brand’s dedication to reinterpreting traditional horology in the most avant-garde and creative ways.
