The young Canadian, who burst onto the international tennis scene this summer by defeating Rafael Nadal at the 2017 Montreal Masters, signed a partnership with TAG Heuer, joining other athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Tom Brady, Henrik Lundqvist, Tim Howards and many more

TAG Heuer is today very proud to announce the appointment of a new athlete to the Family: rising tennis star Denis Shapovalov.

At just 18 years of age, Denis Shapovalov has already amassed enough successes to secure his place in the history of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP): he is the youngest player to make it into the ATP top 50 since Rafael Nadal in 2004 and the youngest ever to make it to a semi-final of a tournament in the Masters 1000 series. This is in addition to also being the youngest player since Michael Chang to have reached the last sixteen in the US Open.

With a current ATP ranking of 50, the future is looking bright for the young Canadian born in Tel Aviv to parents of Russian descent.

Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer CEO and President of the LVMH Watch Group Division announced: "Denis Shapovalov is young, competitive and full of promise. At just 18 years old, he already has some great successes under his belt and his future is looking very bright indeed. So I am very proud to be able to count him as a Friend of the Brand. He is a perfect fit for the TAG Heuer image, and he will enable us to reach the younger generations who follow athletes like Denis."

Denis Shapovalov added: “I’ve always loved the iconic TAG Heuer brand. Their stylish and innovative watch designs are so cool and truly fit my own personal style. It’s an honour to now join the brand and I look forward to a long and successful partnership as my career on and off the court grows.”

TAG Heuer took the opportunity to welcome the athlete to its manufacture when he visited Switzerland for the Swiss Indoors in Basel. Denis Shapovalov was accompanied on a tour of the Swiss watch brand's premises, taking in the museum and various workshops, and the athlete even tried his hand at a bit of watchmaking!

Young, talented, competitive, Denis Shapovalov has breathed new life into the motto #DontCrackUnderPressure.
