On the occasion of the brand’s 160th anniversary, TAG Heuer unveils the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition. A unique chronograph, coalescing the Carrera collection’s prestigious heritage with TAG Heuer’s latest innovations.
From its creation in 1860 to the present day, TAG Heuer has always been distinguished by its visionary outlook. For 160 years, the brand has never ceased innovating and designing watches at the cutting edge of technology.
TAG Heuer has chosen to celebrate this anniversary by paying tribute to the iconic Carrera collection, a symbol of its audacious spirit. On this occasion, the Manufacture presents the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition, of which only 1,860 pieces have been produced.
The tag heuer carrera watch will be available worldwide from June 2020. It was in 1962 that Jack Heuer heard about the legendary Carrera Panamericana, one of the world’s most dangerous road races. The following year, the first Carrera Heuer chronograph was born.
Shortly after its inception, the Carrera Heuer caused a sensation by shaking up the codes of traditional watchmaking. With its refined and audacious design, its technical innovations and optimal readability, the model quickly became the watch of the greatest racecar drivers.
To design the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition, TAG Heuer was inspired by the famous 1964 monochrome model featuring a silver dial. Set apart by its sleek design and its three azure counters, this mythical chronograph paid tribute to speed demons. Exuding a seamless blend of homage and innovation, this limited-edition of 1,860 pieces is distinguished by the shape of its new 39 mm case, compared to 36 mm for the original model.
Powered by the Manufacture Calibre Heuer 02 movement, the stainless-steel model boasts an impressive 80-hour power reserve. The Manufacture Calibre Heuer 02 movement assembles 168 elements, including a vertical clutch and a column wheel for high-quality chronometric accuracy. The anniversary edition is engraved on the new oscillating mass revealed through the sapphire crystal case back.
