Finishing just before 11.30AM on Wednesday, 28 December, Celestial overcame some intense competition with the top four yachts in corrected time separated by less than 30 minutes after 628nm of racing. The result marked a dramatic reversal of fortune, with Celestial denied victory last year following a rule infringement late in the race.
