Flourishing in the field of the prominently masculine haute horlogerie is Roger Dubuis’ Blossom Velvet. The new edition puts the spotlight in feminine beauty, extravagantly bestowing the most ornate aesthetics with an impressive complication. Like the unveiling of a true queen, Blossom Velvet showcases what women's watches should be—endearingly dainty, artistic and truly one-of-a-kind.

In this series, Roger Dubuis depicts women was flowers. From this inspiration, the watchmaker derives three elaborate interpretations of what Blossom should be. All wrought upon a generous 36mm case, two varieties, the Blossom Velvet Pink and Blue, sparkles with a show-stopping showcase of gems, encrusted upon a mother-of-pearl dial and a radiant fabric strap with satin finish.

The beautiful brocade of florals, tastefully put together as scattered bouquets, is the true centrepiece. It envelops the diamond-studded core, while gracefully exhibiting colours and light upon every reflection. Both versions contain blooms with tones attributed to their themes, each fashioned out from a thick plate of Grand Feu enamel. With this craftsmanship, Roger Dubuis successfully implements its unique hand in carving and placement; magnifying femininity in both art and clockwork engineering.

It is not, however, an exclusively visual watch. Inside, it runs an in-house manufactured calibre RD821, running with automatic self-winding abilities. This complication is made up of 172 components, all individually hand-finished up to its tiniest details. The gears are plated with rhodium for further efficiency and luxe. Blossom Velvet contains more features; it stands up to 30 metres of water in height, and packs a two-day power reserve.

Blossom Velvet Pink is in a lovely shade of light rose with a silvery sheen. The Blue version exhibits a chic, cool charm, showcasing encrusted flowers in bright sapphire and deep indigo. Both are created to match two feminine personalities: first, a quiet and demure lady and the second, a fashion-forward, outgoing woman.
