Perhaps the name Carillon Tourbillon from Bulgari will resound as the 2015 Daniel Roth Collection timepiece, featuring a three-hammer carillon, among its many splendid features. This decadently striking watch is not only visually alluring, but is also packed with a beautiful function that is as rare as its design codes. Bulgari Carillon Tourbillon uses three hammers and special-shaped gongs, entirely crafted by hand to achieve a perfect sound quality. In a closer look, these small instruments are bent, laboriously shaped before being fired and hardened at about 900 degrees. Master craftsment then cleans and polish the gongs and hammers before submerging into a second firing; this time, in a lesser temperature.

Excellence has been in Bulgari's ethics, and this unique timepiece is no less than that. The manufacture has added two barrels inside the watch, necessary to store all the energy that supplies power to the movement. An exclusively produced caliber, DR3300, is installed around the large carriage, with more than 300 hundred parts assembled to produce its mechanism. One of the barrels strikes the complication, rewound automatically. The other one guarantees at least a 75-hour power reserve. Other than the gongs, the watch beats at 21,600 vph, by which the beautifully crafted bridges showcase the beauty of the entire mechanism.

Clad in a dashing pink gold 48mm case, this rather imposing watch is also armed with a minute repeater function, which can be sent on the left hand side of the case, promising optimal grip. A few added features include the faceted sapphire crystal atop the inner bezel ring, serving as the enhancer to the striking resonance the mechanism produces.

If this watch has taken your breath away, perhaps the newest Carillon Tourbillon Ultranero will do much more. With a manufacture caliber that is paired with a tourbillon, a carillon and a minute repeater, this Ultranero series model shines with a sleek, fast-forward flair. It is not like the usual heritage watches–here, Bulgari has endowed its latest model with a unique color of black, paired with bright gold accents. Inside is a mechanical manual winding movement, with the same expertise applied to previous models bearing three hammers and three gongs. A silent regulator quiets down the resonance in a swift movement, plus the same 3300 caliber complication that sweeps through its core, performing all the functions with brilliance.

In this edition, Bulgari Carillon Tourbillon Ultranero packs the same 75-hours power reserve and a 48mm case. The only difference is the stark black hue, thanks to the titanium and DLC treated material. The dial is accentuated with gold skeleton and indexes. And to finish the entire design is a black alligator strap with a three-blade folding buckle. Only 10 pieces of this model will be available.
