Exclusive and trailblazing: the newest trendsetting creations and the most brilliant innovations from the international watch and jewellery industry celebrate their premieres at Baselworld 2017. The most prestigious and best-known global brands, the most renowned buyers and the most influential international media unite here under one roof from 23 to 30 March. This year, Baselworld presents another highlight for its visitors: the new ‘Design Lab’ provides an incomparable platform for successful designers and up-and-coming brands.

Whether they’re luxury manufacturers or top designers, renowned specialized dealers or the best sources for diamonds, gemstones, pearls and technology: each year, Baselworld magically attracts the crème de la crème of this multifaceted industry. That’s because Baselworld is renowned as the premier event for the world’s watch and jewellery industry. It is the planet’s most spectacular stage for the latest collections and trend- setting innovations, which the whole world will be talking about for the following 12 months.

Baselworld is always a trendsetter, even with its exhibition concepts. This year’s visitors can experience a new highlight. For the first time, a special area is dedicated exclusively to well-known designers and promising brands: the ‘Design Lab’ is simultaneously also a strong sign showing the ongoing growth of the show’s competence in jewellery. “Many rising talent designers and brands with unconventional ideas are active in this branch of industry. The ‘Design Lab’ concept provides them with the ideal platform to be perceived in the most publicly effective manner. Our artists experiment as one would in a laboratory, so the name ‘Design Lab’ instantly suggested itself”, explains Baselworld’s Managing Director Sylvie Ritter.

Attractively located in a highly frequented area (Hall 1.1), approximately 30 selected participants present themselves and their special jewellery concepts to the show’s international visitors. The exhibitors here include design icons such as Georg Spreng and Marcin Zaremski, newcomers such as Christina Rasmussen and Liliana Guerreiro, as well as up-and-coming brands such as Setare and Capolavoro. “The ‘Design Lab’ is a gigantic opportunity to also present our creations to an international audience. We look forward to Baselworld and to the encounters we’ll experience there”, says Capolavoro owner’s Gerhard Fritsch.

The ‘Design Lab’ offers perfect surroundings for visitors and exhibitors to strike up conversations. Baselworld thus reaffirms its leading role as the world’s most innovative show in the watch and jewellery industry.
