This model is crafted with collaboration with Carolina Bucci, a Florentine jewelry designer.

Le Brassus Manufacture has paid tribute to the style and character of the female designers who had given their share of contribution to the Royal Oak heritage. In 2016, these women were placed under the spotlight; including Jacqueline Dimier who has crafted Gerald Genta's 1972 model and has laid out the vision for the first Royal Oak women in 1976.

The debut of the new Royal Oak only enriched the brand's tradition in experimenting with a variety of jewelry techniques. This may be attributed to the surface treatment process, rooted in an olden hammering tradition called the Florentine technique. Carolina Bucci manages to reinterpret this method in today's jewelry design, as Audemars Piguet developed a horological engineering which suits the watch and bracelet construction.

The link that sets the tactile excellence of the Florentine finish and the unique brushwork of the watch's case and bracelet presents the urge for a collaboration for the two parties. Carolina Bucci, an expert of the Florentine finish, has worked on smaller pieces with meticulous love and labor. By beating gold with a diamond-tipped tool, she creates tiny dents on the surface, creating angles that, in effect, makes the sparkle finish. It appears like a precious stone, or a diamond dust. Bucci has successfully used this method more brazenly on larger cuffs, highlighting the finish more than any other part of the surface.

Now, the challenge for the brand's craftsmen is to apply the same surface treatment technique without altering the clean lines that sets the Royal Oak's iconic form. After months of trial and error, Bucci and Audemars Piguet managed a breakthrough, altering the surface of the gold while retaining the flexibility and suppleness of the Royal Oak's women’s bracelet. Despite the demanding task, they have achieved an alchemy in which nothing was added or taken away from the watch, only transformed into a new spectacle in which the women of today will surely love.
